Dear Families,

It has been a wonderful few months with your children. I have enjoyed getting to know these fine boys and girls tremendously, since the beginning of the year.

Unfortunately, my travels with your children for this school year are ending a bit earlier than I had anticipated. With some difficulties getting my body to cooperate with this pregnancy, I am saddened to not be able to continue this adventure with your children for the time being. That being said, I know that these children are in great hands with Mrs. Eberle, Mrs. Goodhue, and Mrs. Cook.

I look forward to hearing about continued success with each of them throughout this school year. It has been a true pleasure getting to work with each of these students. I know that I was luck enough to get to teach the world's greatest Grade 1 & 2 rockstars during my short stay!

Hopefully I might be fortunate enough to have a few of them again next year upon my return!

Have a wonderful holiday season with your family and friends! Please keep in touch and let me know all of the exciting events to come!

Sincerely,

Mrs. Istace

Pumpkin perfection!

Today we spent time exploring pumpkins during our annual pumpkin stations! We had some great help that made this activity extra fun! Thank you to Mr. Payout and Mrs. Zanni's Gr. 8 students for all of your help!
Mrs. Istace showed up before the sun came up, so that everything would be ready for action!
We measured the height of pumpkins.
We even measured what was bigger... Mrs. Istace's tummy or the circumference of our pumpkins...Mrs. Istace might be growing a real pumpkin in there!
We weighed our pumpkins. Boy they were heavy!
We predicted pumpkins would sink.... Turns out we were wrong!
Some of us sure have strong muscles!!
We predicted how many seeds were in our pumpkins and counted by 1s, 10s, and 100s.
It sure was slimy!
Then came some carving fun! Mrs. Goodhue was an expert!
Look at our finished jack O' lanterns!
Who knew learning could be so much fun?!!
Our seed roasting experts did a superb job! Everyone enjoyed their tasty treats!
Thanks for a great pumpkin morning boys and girls!

Cuddle up and Read!

We had a great morning at our "Cuddle up and Read" during our Education week last week! Students cuddled up with their family members, stuffed animals and friends while enjoying a few great books!

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us and make this day possible!

Here are a few pictures that captured some of the fun!

It was a great day of sharing and we can't wait to do it again!

Welcome Aboard!!

Welcome to our Grade 1 and 2 class blog! We are excited to share the exciting things happening in our class with you! Take a look at some of the different activities we have been up to so far this year! Check back often to see what we are keeping busy with! :)

Here are a few pictures of our weekly centers!
Bump and Jumps are a fun way that we practice our Number Sense! We played this during our "Games Center".
We love going to the "Listening Center". There are lots of great stories to dive into!
Mrs. Goodhue helps us to always try our best at the Writing Center. This week we wrote all about Witches and Scarecrows! We are very creative!
At the Art Center, we worked on creating scarecrows and witches! They turned out just perfectly!
Here we are again with our Bump and Jump number practice!
Last week we took some time at the Writing Center to write about what we are thankful for!
At the Science Center Laurie helped us to get in touch with our sense of 'taste'. We got to taste, sweet, sour, salty and spicy! We all loved the marshmallows!

At the Math Center, we practiced patterning. It was fun to create and use our brains to extend patterns while building animals and insects!

Here is our finished product! We had so much fun making these to share with you!

Check back soon for more posts to follow!
